The area is know for its woodcarving, castles, fontina cheese, ski resorts, wine, cows and fruit. Morgex (near Courmayeur) is known for the highest commercial vineyards in the world. It is a sweet white wine. The best wines in Italy come from the Piedmont area east of Torino, and Tuscany. Northeastern Italy is know for its white wines. There are often wine tasting events in the area and sometimes in Nus.
Many castles were were built in the Valley. Fenis Castle is one of the best known and is easy to visit. In January and August, the Valley has woodcarving festivals and in October they have the “Battle of the Queens”. This is a battle between cows.
